3.26.2033 [Captain's Log]

Yesterday, I was called to a Lv. 2 Alert on the bridge. Apparently one of our cargo bays had been sealed shut, but the ships log shows no entry by any of my crew, nor does anyone claim responsibility. Seeing as how this specific cargo bay held a large amount of medical supply, I ordered the door immediately opened, and an engineering crew went to work.

Later on the bridge, my newly appointed 1st officer, Commander Jiro, brought forth a disturbing theory. Since the Gamaphites were still following us, but were not attacking or making any attempt at further contact, then there could only be two solutions. One: the Gamaphites malice towards us has turned to curiosity and they are merely studying us and our vessel. Two: we have something aboard the Atreyu that they desire. That brought forth the most horrifying revelation: what if members of the Gamaphite crew were aboard our ship? I immediately had the ships hull scanned. A small vessel was located attached to the ship right outside the cargo bay which had been sealed. I ordered a security team down to the cargo bay, but by the time they arrived, the engineers had been killed, and the Gamaphites had gone, but now without leaving one of their dead behind.

A thorough search of the cargo bay revealed what appeared to be the attempted construction of a bomb. Luckily my security team arrived in time to scare them off before they could finish arming it. We now know the Gamaphites are definitely hostile. Although, as revealing as this was, I was preoccupied in the medical bay, where Chief Dr. Horrace was performing an autopsy on the Gamaphite corpse. Apparently it had accidentally unsealed a portable tank of carbon dioxide, which burned a hole right through its chest. The mercury-based lifeform had limbs just like ours, but only one wide and narrow eye which spanned half the circumference of its skull. It was also much shorter than us.

With this new evidence, I decided that running was no longer an option. Seeing as how we could not hold our own in a space battle, I have ordered our ship to land on Phao, Gamaphoeba's largest moon. Perhaps we will stand a chance in a hand-to-hand combat...
